Emergency Backup Power in East Wittering

How the backup arrangement works
1. Normal operation
During normal mains operation, the system operates in its configured grid-connected mode.
2. Mains supply fails
On a qualifying grid failure, the automatic changeover arrangement isolates the relevant supply path and transfers the essential circuits to the available backup output. A brief interruption may occur.
3. Mains returns
Once grid conditions meet the equipment’s requirements, the system returns to normal operation according to its configured settings.

Designed around essential loads
Backup power needs careful planning: the circuits selected, maximum simultaneous demand, inverter backup rating and usable battery capacity all influence what can operate during an outage.
Electrical isolation, earthing, neutral arrangements and fault protection must be designed and verified for both mains and backup modes. The presence of an automatic changeover box alone does not establish compliance.
